Our Supplier Diversity strategy is not just about filling a compliance need. Supplier Diversity supports 3M’s diversity and inclusion core values to be a more creative, innovative and competitive company, while better meeting the needs of our customers and the communities we serve.
Our GAME Changer program pilot was designed to build the capabilities and capacity of diverse suppliers through Growth, Advocacy, Mentoring and Education (GAME).

We leverage our government engagement expertise to collaborate with legislator-affiliated and diverse advocacy organizations to advance policy outcomes aligned to 3M’s pillars on social & environmental justice.
3M, along with over 70 organizations, is a member of the Minnesota Business Coalition for Racial Equity (MBCRE). MBCRE’s vision is to build a more just and prosperous state with and for Black Minnesotans. This is one of the avenues where we leverage our government engagement capabilities to advocate for policy in support of racial equity.

Our Social Justice team partners with our New Product Introduction (NPI) team to create products with equity in mind. Our NPI system already has embedded the expectations for including an equity lens throughout the entire innovation process. Pilots are planned to bring this to life in 2023 as we look forward to creating 3M products that improve outcomes for historically underrepresented groups.
Additionally, by implementing inclusive design principles in product design, we seek to design human-centered solutions that cater to a wide spectrum of abilities of our users.

3M advocates for environmental justice, which we define as the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people where no group of people bears a disproportionate share of the negative environmental consequences resulting from industrial, governmental and commercial operations or policies.
This aligns with and deepens our ongoing environmental commitments in our communities regarding water, air, energy and waste management.
To drive greater equity in our communities, 3M has set equity-related commitments within each of our four business groups. The commitments will leverage the power of each group's people, products, philanthropy and partnerships. Each equity commitment is uniquely ownable for the business group, bold, measurable, globally scalable and aligned to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
