Supplier diversity program
Creating economic wealth for diverse business owners

Our Supplier Diversity strategy is not just about filling a compliance need. Supplier Diversity supports 3M’s diversity and inclusion core values to be a more creative, innovative and competitive company, while better meeting the needs of our customers and the communities we serve.

Our GAME Changer program was designed to build the capabilities and capacity of diverse suppliers through Growth, Advocacy, Mentoring and Education (GAME).

Government engagement
Collaborating with advocacy organizations to advance policy outcomes

We leverage our government engagement expertise to collaborate with legislator-affiliated and diverse advocacy organizations to advance policy outcomes aligned to 3M’s pillars on social & environmental justice.

3M, along with over 50 organizations, is a member of the Minnesota Business Coalition for Racial Equity (MBCRE). MBCRE’s vision is to build a more just and prosperous state with and for Black Minnesotans. This is one of the avenues where we leverage our government engagement capabilities to advocate for policy in support of racial equity.

Equity in innovation
Creating products with equity built into the design

Our Social Justice team supports our New Product Introduction (NPI) teams in creating products with equity in mind. Through our Sustainable Value Commitment, our NPI process applies an equity lens to the innovation process, solution, function and/or design.

NPI teams are encouraged to consider equity-advancing elements in their solutions, such as sourcing from diverse suppliers, applying universal design principles and considering how solutions may improve access to basic needs for underserved communities.

Environmental justice
Solving some of the most pressing environmental justice challenges facing our 3M communities
3M advocates for environmental justice, which we define as the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people where no group of people bears a disproportionate share of the negative environmental consequences resulting from industrial, governmental and commercial operations or policies.

Our ambition is to deliver on 3M’s corporate promise. By leveraging our expertise and capabilities alongside community stakeholders and leading through convening across sectors, we address some of the most pressing environmental justice challenges facing our communities. This aligns with and deepens our ongoing environmental commitments in our communities regarding water, air, energy and waste management.

Business group equity commitments

To drive greater equity in our communities, 3M has set equity-related commitments within each of our four business groups. The commitments will leverage the power of each group's people, products, philanthropy and partnerships. Each equity commitment is uniquely ownable for the business group, bold, measurable, globally scalable and aligned to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
